Bangkok,  16  December 2010 (PDN) : The Tourism Council of Thailand (TCT) has presented a positive outlook for the tourism sector in Thailand in 2011.

According to the chairman of TCT, Kongkrit Hiranyakit, the tourism sector in the next year should grow by 15-20%, if the political situation remains calm and the government’s actions in this area are effective. The Chairman noted that most of the increase in tourism will come from Russia, the Middle East and China.

Meanwhile, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) also forecasts an increase in the number of tourists to a total of 15 million within the next year, generating revenues of about 1.05 trillion baht.

Mr. Kongkrit also said that both small and large players in the hotel industry could greatly benefit from the use of new media to attract a wider range of potential customers.
