TAT and Visa International of Thailand will launch campaign to promote Thai Food

Miss. Wilaiwan Thawitsri- vice governor of TAT-revealed that TAT and Visa International Asia-Pacific LLC Co. have launched 3rd splash and spice 2014 campaign 10 April-31 May 2014 in order to stimulate economy during Song-karn festival in summer.

The main factor is promoting Thai food and there are 145 3-5 star hotels compared with 50 hotels in the areas of Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiangmai, Phuket and Samui in last years. Especially, the group of hotel in Ratchaprasong that was protesting area agreed to attend. They all set the special price of food packages 399,749 and 1,499 Baht (the prices are not included service charges and tax). It’s expected that the campaign can make money about 37 billion baht.

In addition, they are going to launch Thai food campaign in August in order to promote Thai food as outstanding  goods. It’s on process of agreement such as collecting operators who teach cooking for foreigner, arranging variety of activities and promoting Thai food to be a tourism opportunities that is aimed 2 Trillion baht.

Mr.Somboon Krobteeranon- the manager of Visa International of Thailand and Myanmar- said that total spending of manufactured goods and food via visa card in Thailand value 100 billion baht. 30 percent is spending via visa card. Manufacturer is so competitive business, so operators use price mechanism to spin. It’s continuously decreased to spending per capita per day. Visa has to cooperate with the hotels to promote spending via hotel and they need to keep the 1st level of spending via hotels and foods.
