Swedish Business Man Commited Suicide In Pattaya

At 17.30, on September 5th, 2008, Pol.Lt.Col. Apimuk Amnatmankong, Pattaya investigator, Dongtan, Chonburi, was notified that a foreigner died in his apartment. The incident took place on the 4th floor of Jomtien Golf and Travel Service Company Ltd., located at 334/156, Soi Welcome Jomtien 2, Jomtien beach road, Moo 12, Nongprue, Banglamung, Chonburi. Pol.Col.Nopadol Wongnom, Pattaya superintendent, doctor from Banglamung hospital and Sawang Boriboon foundation personnel went to investigate.

At the incident, on the 4th floor, Mr. Lars Erik Lennart Gustafss (58), Swedish citizen, was found dead lying by the bedside with 3 serious slashes on his both wrists. He was wearing a T-shirt and jeans. Officials found a kitchen knife on the floor by the side of deceased body. The contents in the room were remained as usual and not being ransacked. There were only broken mobile phone parts scattering on the floor. Police presumed he had been dead for about 6 hours.

Police were told that Mr. Gustafss had opened a tour company to take care of Swedish tourist in Pattaya by providing accommodation, sightseeing tour including golf tour.

Recently, Mr. Gustafss started to be depressed due to his Thai wife had left him. Besides he used to take a poison to kill himself but he was rescued by his friend.

Mr. John Doe[alias] (45), Swedish citizen, who was the partner in the same company, was the first person who found Mr. Gustafss’s deceased body.

He told official that he did have a talk with Mr. Gustafss in the morning, but in late afternoon he realized that Mr. Gustafss had been disappeared for a long time. He called but did not have a reply,He and the office staff then used the spare key to open the door and found he had committed suicide.

Pol.Col.Nopadol Wongnom, stated that the reason of committing suicide could be from his Thai wife who had left him or business problem. The body was sent to forensic laboratory for examination.
