SAMUT PRAKAN – March 2, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; Mr. Uaychai Koolthipmontri (Director of Suvarnabhumi Airport Cargo Clearance Custom Bureau), Mr. Thada Choomchaiyo (Director of Investigation and Suppression Division), Mr. Decha Wichaidit (Head of Investigation and Suppression Division 1) together with the Narcotics Suppression Police of Suvarnabhumi airport and the immigration officers made a statement at the Investigation and Suppression Office, Suvarnabhumi Custom Bureau about the seizure of Methamphetamines weighing 6 kg, worth approximately 19 million THB which were hidden in luggage.

Mr. Rakhop Srisupphaart (Director-General of Customs Department) said that the officers had seized some luggage which contained Methamphetamines. The luggage was off a Silk Air airline flight and belonged to a 21 year old Thai woman. Upon questioning the Thai woman she told police that she didn’t know anything about the Methamphetamines in her luggage and that she was to take the luggage to a hotel in Bangkok, so the police took her and the luggage to the hotel and arrested a coloured foreigner who was waiting.

The officers asked to inspect the passport of the male foreigner but he didn’t have a passport and wouldn’t tell the police his name, he also denied about having anything to do with the Methamphetamines that were found in the luggage. Therefore, the immigration officers prosecuted him in the allegations of being an alien that entered into and stayed in the kingdom of Thailand without permission as according to the Immigration Act. Furthermore the officers found out that both had been involved with the drug smuggling.

The Director-General of Customs Department said that he would like to warn Thai women not to consent to carrying any luggage for other people and week he will go to Brazil where approximately 50 Thai women have been arrested and prosecuted for drug smuggling.
