Drugged Asian Tourist Found Unconscious in Pattaya

An Asian tourist who was found unconscious on a bench along Pattaya Beach Road on Friday morning is suspected to have been drugged. The unknown man had been robbed of all his possessions by 3 Thai youths.

Pattaya, the 5th of February 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: Police Colonel Suriya Woriwong (Pattaya Police Investigator) was notified early Friday morning that a foreign tourist had been found unconscious on a bench along Pattaya’s Beach Road. A team of police officers and rescue personnel from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation went to the scene to investigate.


At the scene police were confronted with the unconscious body of an Asian tourist laying on one of the beachside benches. Investigations revealed the man did not have any possessions or identity card. He was dressed in a black t-shirt and sport shorts. Medical officers tried to revive the man before transporting him to the Pattaya Memorial Hospital.

Police interrogated Mr. Nidthawut Jaemjun [16] who came forward stating that he had witnessed a group of 3 young Thai men between the age of 20-25 attempting to help the man. The three men were allegedly dressed as volunteer police officers and were observed searching him, subsequently fleeing with his possessions including a mobile phone and an amount of cash.

At present police a assuming that the tourist was given some form of sleeping medication at another location prior to falling asleep on the bench on beach Road. An investigation will now be launched in order to apprehend the three men who allegedly robbed the unconscious tourist.
