Sriracha Tiger Zoo

Location: no. 341 Moo 3, Nongkham Sub-district, Sriracha District, Chonburi Province.

Directions: exit the Chonburi Bypass Highway near Sri Racha and follow the signs giving directions to the Sri Racha Tiger Zoo.

The Sri Racha Tiger Zoo is approximately 40 km by highway north from Pattaya, It can also be accessed by taking the road to the tiger zoo directly off Sukhumvit Road in Sri Racha by following the directional signs from Sukhumvit Highway (Route 3).

Parking is free, the entrance pay desk is well marked, a layout map in English and Thai is provided with times of the various shows.

Fact File: opened on April 23, 1997. It is the biggest zoo of its kind in the world with more than 100 acres providing a home for over 200 Bengal tigers, bred successfully in captivity by the farm itself.

Other animals include: deer, wallabies, kangaroos, elephants single hump camels, Peruvian guinea pigs and ostriches, and an aviary of exotic birds plus more than 90,000 crocodiles.

Admission price per person: 900 Baht
Open 8.00 am. – 6.00 pm. daily

Events:

·  Crocodile wrestling – 9:00 and 10:30 and each hour on the hour from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Lady crocodile fighters, wrestle the crocodiles barehanded.
·  Crocodile egg breaking festival (May to August)
· The Elephant show: 11:40 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Watch elephants massaging, dancing, taking part in fashion show and playing basketball.
·  Kenya aerobics
· Amazing Circus: 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Experience tigers jumping through fire loops, walking on a rope and many other shows. In addition, there are bear and chimpanzee shows. The circus can have more than 1,500 visitors per show
·  Pig Racing: every half hour from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
·  Pig Swimming: 9:30 a.m., 12:20 p.m., 1:40 p.m., 2:40 p.m., & 4:40 p.m
·  Scorpion Queen, watch a young lady clothed with poisonous scorpions
·  The Happy Family, see the friendship between a tiger, a pig and a dog, living amicably together.

The zoo also provides special exhibits and programmes to be visited for schools and visitors in general, including a sow nursing tiger cubs; hold a baby tiger, feed it, and take memorable photos; a tame baby crocodile show, ostrich racing, and a pig doing calculations.

The Company Mission Statement

1. To conserve certain wildlife species that are close to extinction for future generations

2. To foster social consciousness in the preservation of nature and the environment, especially among the youth to care for and develop concern for wildlife and participate in preservation activities.

3. To breed wild animals which are specified by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) so that they can be exported.

4. To respond to the 8th National Economy Development Plan by educating society in wildlife knowledge.
