Sriracha School Library Hall Collapses Kills Worker

The library hall of Sriracha school which was under construction collapsed. One worker died. The cause was due to the contractor and the substandard materials being used.

Sriracha, September 27, 2011[Pattaya Daily News]; Pol. Capt. Suthee Janthana Sriracha Police was notified that the third floor of Sriracha school buildings had collapsed.

At the scene the police found the partly collapsed three story building. Two injured workers had been sent to the hospital: Mr. Danai Thanyahong age 17, who died later, due to a skull fracture, broken arms and legs, the other injured worker was Mr. Amnuayporn Piriyapichit aged 49, survived with bruises all over his body.

When Dr. Cherdchalao Kaewpraken the director of Sriracha school arrived at the scene of the accident, she told the journalist that the school wanted to build a library on the third floor. After the contractor finished the construction, Dr. Cherchalasao found broken lines, cracks and the roof was leaking. Therefore she demanded the contractor to repair and the maintain the finished work. The accident occured during the reparation.

The police will further investigate the accident and contact the building contractor. The responsible persons for the accident will prosecuted according to to Thai law.
