Sri Racha Loan Shark Stabbed by Irate Victim

A 68-year-old Sri Racharesident stabbed a loan collector repeatedly in a rage, after the collector made threats about repaying an illegal loan that the resident said he did not make. Police arrested the assailant and are waiting to question the stabbing victim recovering in the hospital.

SRI RACHA- August 1, 2012[Pattaya Daily News]: at 9 a.m., Pol. Lt. Capt. Udom Koykeb, officer on duty of Sri Racha police station, Sri RachaChonburi; received a report of a stabbing victim from the Pioyiangtai Sri Racharescue team. Police rushed to the scene, a house located at 25/112,moo 3, Surasak, Sri Raja, behind the Pioyiangtai shrine.

They discovered a man lying in pool of blood and breathing slowly in front of the shrine. He had been stabbed many times. There were more than 10 large wounds on his body and face. He was identified as Mr. Ritkrai Meechamnan.

The Sri Rachapolice searched for the assailant, and found Mr. Supoj Tantayanon, 68, who was was riding a motorcycle out of soi Suanpa Sukapibal Road 6, Surasak Sri Racha. Mr. Supoj had a lot of bloodstains on his clothing, so the police brought him to the police station for questioning.

Mr. Supoj told police that the stabbing victim worked for an illegal loaner collection group. The man had driven a black Toyota Vios to his house and asked for money. But Mr. Supoj said that he had never made any kind of illegal loan, and instead had just gotten a legal loan from the bank to buy his house.

But Mr. Ritkrai insisted that he owed money to the collector, and threatened to seize his motorcycle, TV, refrigerator, and all of his assets. Mr. Supoj got furious and ran to get a knife in his kitchen to stab the man. They were fighting for a while until the loan collector could not fight anymore, so he escaped and cried for help.

But Mr. Supoj was still feeling rage and ran after the man. When the man fell on the ground, Mr. Supoj stabbed him repeatedly more than 10 times, in front of many passersby in front of the shrine.

Afterwards, Mr. Supoj walked home and hid his knife in his washing machine. He then tried to escape on his motorcycle before the police caught him.

When Mr. Ritkrai recovers enough to testify, police will question him to see if Mr. Supoj’s claims about extortion are true. They will then charge Mr. Supoj accordingly.
