On 31 August 2007, at 4 AM, Pattaya Investigator, Police Lieutenant Colonel Thanagrit Larb-Ithisan, was informed that a tourist, on a motorbike, crashed into an electrical control box and was dead on the spot. The accident happened near “Best Friends” Beer Bar group on Pattaya Beach Road. The police rushed to the scene of the accident along with Sawang Boriboon Rescue.
A crowd had gathered at the scene of the accident. An electrical box at the side of the street had been hit and was damaged. A foreigner, about forty years old, was lying on the ground, already deceased. He was clad in a blue T-shirt and grey shorts. His head was broken and his arms were folded. The man was covered with blood. Police were unable to determine his identity. There were 5,150 baht and one hundred dollars, U.S., in his pocket. The man appeared to be of Middle Eastern descent. Thirty meters from the dead man was a large, blue Yamaha R.1 motorbike with a red number plate, knocked down to the ground. The motorbike was totally destroyed.

According to a female witness, an employee of one of the beer bars, the man had been speeding on his bike and appeared drunk. He sideswiped a drink vendor’s push cart and collided into an electrical control box which was on the footpath. The man was thrown off his motorbike. He was severely injured and unconscious, but still breathing. Bystanders attempted to apply CPR, but were unsuccessful. The drink vendor, who owned the pushcart, was uninjured, so he left. The body will temporarily remain at Banglamung Hospital until the man can be identified. Police assumed that the motorbike was a rental and will try to discern the man’s identification from the rental company.
