Speed Boat Breaks and Sinks off the Coast of Pattaya

A speed boat which was travelling back to Pattaya from Koh Larn Island hit a wave very hard damaging the hull, the boat quickly took on water and sank. Luckily there were no tourists on the boat and the loan driver was rescued by a passing speed boat.

PATTAYA – April 29, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 18.30pm Pol.Gen Supachai Puikaewkum the director of Police in Pattaya with the officer of Sawang boriboon foundation in Pattaya rushed to the scene in the area of Bali Hai Pier. A speed boat had hit a large wave causing the hull to break allowing water to gush in. The boat then sank but the driver was rescued by a passing speed boat called “Nong Jame” luckily there were no tourists on board.

Mr.Rameth Aumpaisri aged 50 – the director of Sattahip hospital said that he was coming back from Koh Larn and heading towards Pattaya in his boat called “Song Pee Nong” and when he was around 4km from the coast he hit a wave very hard causing the boat to become damaged which resulted in it sinking. He also said that he was alone on the boat and was saved by a passing boat called “Nong Jame No.7”.

Pol.Gen Supachai Puikaewkum the director of Police station Pattaya said that from initially investigation Mr.Rameth the boat driver driving was driving at normal speed but hit a wave very hard which damaged the hull causing it to sink.It seems to have been an accident, but it will be investigated further before proceeding to the next step.
