Soldiers Set Up Drug Inspection Checkpoint

Public authorities and soldiers set up 2 checkpoints to randomly inspect for drugs and to drug test suspicious looking teenagers. Over 50 people failed the drug test and they were detained to await further proceedings.

PATTAYA – March 10,2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 8.00 p.m.; Mr. Chakhorn Kanjanawatta (Banglamung sheriff) together with Mr. Praphan Prathoomchomphu (Deputy District Chief of Banglamung District, Head of Security Division) had mobilized forces of over 50 officers from the 14th Military Circle , Chon Buri province to set up checkpoints to inspect for illegal items and drug substances on suspicious teenagers. The officials were divided into 2 checkpoints, the first was in the middle of Soi Thai Udom which crosscuts (intersects) with Soi Pho Thi Sarn and the second checkpoint was in the middle of Soi Nern Phlab Wan in front of Sawang Boriboon Wittaya school.

 

The purpose of this operation was to randomly inspect for drugs amongst teenagers and to do random drug tests. This project was conducted according to the policy of the Narcotics Control Board.

At the checkpoint in the middle of Soi Nern Phlab Wan in front of Sawang Boriboon Wittaya school the officials found 27 teenagers who failed drug tests and the other checkpoint at Soi Thai Udom which crosscuts (intersects) with Soi Pho Thi Sarn, they found over 25 teenagers who failed drug tests. All 52 teenagers were detained at Amphur Banglamung police station in order await further proceedings.
