SATTAHIP – March 5, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; Mr.Pairoj Malakul Na Ayudhaya, the mayor Ket Udomsak municipality, appointed Mrs.Lalidaa Saisopha, head of social workers of the municipality to visit the girls, and Mr.Ekachai, the father of the children. When she arrived at the house the girls looked cheerful and acted like nothing had happened.

Mrs. Lalida Saisopa said that children must be protected by the system of social legislation and the father should not be allowed to do this because it was a violation of the children’s rights. Today she has told the father to improve the living conditions for the children because next time she comes if the conditions haven’t improved and the children are still in the same condition the social workers had authority to take the children. She also wanted to take the 2 girls to a kid’s day care and Parenting Centre of the municipality, but the father refused because of fear that the children’s mother would kidnap them. The father then insisted that he would not starve and beat them again.

Mr.Eakachai , the father of the two children said that on the day the police came the kids had eaten drugs for a fever and cough syrup which made him angry so he hit them with clothes hangers. He then locked them in the house which made them cry louder so the locals called the police, now he felt guilty and wouldn’t do it again.
He also said that normally, his brother and his wife would take care of them while he is at work but they are away in their home town at the moment and have been for the past 3 days.

Pol.Lt. Col. Sthaporn Boonnak called the father and told him that a report had been written and the details of the incident had been recorded and if it happened again, he would be prosecuted by law, He asked the journalist to report to all parents that violation of the law they will be punished.
