Social Welfare Hold Royal Lunch for Chon-Buri Female Inmates

To mark the occasion of Her Majesty the Queen’s impending 78th birthday, the Thai Council on Social Welfare Under Royal Patronage organised a Royal Lunch for the female inmates at Chon-Buri prison.

Chon-Buri, the 9th of August 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: The event, held every year, was organised in honour of Her Majesty the Queen Sirikit and the conjoined ‘Mothers Day’ celebrations.

From the 1st-12th of August in Thailand the Council of Social Welfare in conjunction with the Thai Red Cross Foundation organises the ‘National Mothers Week’ operation, in which Royal Lunches, such as the aforementioned banquet, are provided for all female prisoners, unemployed, disadvantages and poor women and families throughout Thailand.

Present to open and oversee the Royal Lunch at Chon-Buri Female Prison were, Mrs. Chorphaka Jittakasem (Chon-Buri Red Cross Chairman) along with her officials and the Thailand Red Cross Society Deputy Director Mrs. Nonthiya Kaewket.

In total, 935 female prisoners attended the honorary luncheon, joyously toasting Her Majesty the Queens 78th year.
