BANGKOK – March 22, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; Pol.Lt.Col. Pramot Janboonkaew (Inspector of Booppharam police station) has praised the fact that the CCTV footage has been put onto Twitter, You Tube and Facebook, and is pleading for assistance to arrest the cowardly youths. The footage was taken in front of the nearby post office, the incident occurring at 2.21 a.m. on March 14, 2014. It clearly shows the faces of the gang members. When the gang had left, the 2 girls went to the local police station and reported the theft and assault. The police took the statements and initially believe it to be the work of a local Khlong Lord gang.

The victim told police that she and her 3-month pregnant friend had been sitting waiting for the bus in front of the convenience store at the Ban Khaek intersection. Suddenly 5 motorbikes pulled up very close to the girls, with 10 male teens riding them. 3 of the youths (she described them as looking like junkies) walked directly up to them, and verbally abused them, before grabbing a Galaxy S3 mobile from her. He then kicked her on the chin. One of the other gang members also kicked her in the side of the head. The pregnant girl then got up and pleaded with the gang not to kill them, and, on the footage, can be seen to “wai” (a sign of respect) the gang as they returned back to their bikes and took off.

The detectives of Booppharam police station are doing everything they can to hunt down and arrest the culprits of this cowardly act. Only when the youths have been arrested will the locals feel more comfortable about walking the area after dark.
