Pattaya, 29 November 2010 (PDN): At 01.00 am Pattaya Police Deputy Superintendent police Lieutenant Klitsakorn Thongi was notiified that two snatch thieves had been arrested in front of the Watchaimongkhol market, South Pattaya whilst another thief had escaped. A police team were dispatched to investigate.

At the scene, many onlookers had gathered to watch the arrest of a gang of snatch thieves by Pattaya Security Volunteers. The victim, Miss Phatcharin Kruesanguan [18], told officers that she had been working that night at the 24 Karaoke venue in Soi Kophai. She had left her bag with some friends on a table in front of the venue while she went inside. She then heard her friends shouting and ran out to find that a gang had snatched her bag and rode off on a Mio motorbike.

She and her friend gave chase and managed to catch up with the perpetrators in front of the Watchaimongkhol market, which is a very busy area at that time of night. A Volunteer Security Team managed to detain two of the thieves, Mr. Anuphong Photita [37] from Sriracha, a Sahaphat Factory worker in Laem Chabang, who was still holding the victim’s brown bag, and Mr. Singha Klaiobchuey from Nongkham, who tried to escape on one of the Volunteer’s motorbikes, but was stopped when some other officers arrived at the scene.

Under interrogation Mr. Klaiobchuey stated that another gang member, also from Norngkham, Sriracha had fled the scene.

Both suspects were arrested and taken to Pattaya Police Station where Mr. Photita confessed that he was low paid and decided to supplement his income by snatching other peoples’ possessions in Pattaya with other gang members. Unfortunately, he admitted, the gang was not familiar with the area which had made their getaway difficult.

Police expect the imminent arrest off the third gang member and all three will be facing judicial proceedings.
