Edward Norton graduated from Yale, where he majored in history, not theater. However, he did do some acting alongside fellow students Ron Livingston (Office Space) and Paul Giamatti (Sideways). Ed received his history degree in 1991 and also speaks Japanese, a notoriously difficult language for English speakers to learn.

Remember Winnie from The Wonder Years? Child-star-turned-math-whiz Danica McKellar went on to graduate summa cum laude from UCLA in 1998 with a degree in mathematics. She has since written a book, Math Doesn’t Suck, which inspires middle-school girls to love learning math.

Rashida Jones was a National Honor Society member in high school and graduated in 1997 from Harvard, where she studied philosophy and religion. The youngest daughter of musician Quincy Jones, she followed in her father’s footsteps at Harvard, where she sang in and served as musical director for an a cappella group called The Harvard Opportunes.

Brainy thespian Kate Beckinsale won the WH Smith Young Writers competition in her teens, once for a group of short stories and again for a set of three poems. Kate then went on to study literature at Oxford University’s New College.
                                    Meryl Streep
Meryl Streep has an undergraduate degree from Vassar College and a master’s degree from the Yale School of Drama, where she studied alongside actress Sigourney Weaver. She also learned to play violin in just two months back in 1999 while preparing for her role in Music of the Heart.

 

                           Geena Davis
Geena Davis is a member of Mensa, a society just for those with IQs in the top 2 percent of the population. She graduated with a degree in theater from Boston University in 1979. While an exchange student in Sweden, Geena mastered the language and is reportedly fluent.
                                 David Duchovny
David Duchovny attended one of New York City’s top private high schools and graduated from Princeton. He then earned a master’s degree in English literature from Yale and even began work on a Ph.D., though he never finished. The title of his abandoned doctoral thesis was “Magic and Technology in Contemporary Poetry and Prose.”

Claire Danes entered Yale in 1998 to study psychology. She most likely didn’t have too much trouble getting in?her father is an alum, and her grandfather was dean of the university’s art and architecture school. Also: Her letter of recommendation was written by none other than Oliver Stone. 

Jodie Foster was valedictorian of her high school, Le Lycee Francais de Los Angeles, a bilingual prep school. She then attended Yale, earning a bachelor’s degree in literature, magna cum laude. Between her studies and her many trips to France, Jodie’s French is pretty much perfect?she even dubbed her own lines in French-language versions of several of her hits films.

Natalie Portman graduated from Harvard with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2003, and did graduate studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem the following year. She is bilingual in English and Hebrew, and hit the books to learn a few other languages as well, including French, German, Japanese and even Arabic.

After graduating from a top New York prep school, Jennifer Connelly headed off to study English literature at Yale. “I pulled a lot of all-nighters in the library right off the bat, and I didn’t have a really strong social life,” she told Interview magazine in 2002. She then transferred to Stanford University where she studied drama, classical theatre and improvisation.

Cindy Crawford, the world-famous bikini beauty, was also an outstanding engineering student back in the day! As valedictorian of her high school in DeKalb, Illinois, she earned a 4.0 grade point average and was awarded a scholarship to Northwestern University to study chemical engineering. However, she only stayed at the college for one quarter, as she dropped out to pursue her modeling career full-time.
