Sly Motorbike Taxi Riders Take Parking Fee From Tourists

2 motorbike taxi riders took it on themselves to deceive tourists by charging them to park on public bridge near Balihai port. The tourists were angry and confused of why they had to give the taxi riders money so they complained to the police who rusted to the scene.

PATTAYA – December 29, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; the police of Pattaya city police station and the municipal officers of Pattaya city received complaints from tourists that there were the group of people collected parking fees from tourists that parked their cars on the grade separation at Balihai port which is the route to Pattaya Countdown concert. After receiving complaints the officers rushed to inspect at scene because Pattaya city never collected the parking fee on the bridge before.

Upon arriving at the scene the officers found 2 Thai men were to flagging down cars of tourists that came to the concert so the officers detained them. After questioning the two men a Mr. Thong Moonsurin, aged 39 and Mr. Thaweesak Somrit, aged 38, who were motorbike taxi riders they claimed that they weren’t collecting parking fees but they were just servicing the tourists that parked their cars on the bridge and wanted to hire them to drive them to the concert which they would charge 50 THB per ride from the bridge to the concert.

However, the officers detained the 2 motorbike taxi riders and took photos and made record of history for evidence. The two men were detained by the police and sent for further investigation to be prosecuted according to Thai law.
