Sizzling Hot “Esarn” North-East Hit By 40 + Degree Heat In March

The Thai Meteorological Department announced a warning to all north eastern people that the hot season is approaching with dry conditions and temperatures hitting over 40 degrees Celsius.

UBON RATCHATHANI – March 1, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; The north eastern meteorological center in Ubon Ratchathani , announced that the weather during March 1-7 in the north east will be thin morning fog and extremely hot temperatures during the day expected to reach more than 40 degrees Celsius. This is the arrival of the dry season.

In the mornings thunderstorm, strong winds and rain are expected in some areas.

The temperatures measured today. The lowest temperature: 24 degrees Celsius and the highest: 38-39 degrees Celsius with south easterly winds. Wind speed:15-30 kms/hour, relative humidity: 65-75 %

The difference between night & day temperatures could affect the farmers who have to work in the sun and in the heat.

The farmers should take care of their health to prevent illness and wear protective clothing and drink plenty of water.

This season surface water could easily evaporate therefore the farmers should cover their crops with leaves, straws or dry grass.

For those who keep animals, should have their livestock vaccinated to prevent diseases and the farmers should avoid to touch sick animals, if necessary they should wear protective gloves.
