The scenario opens with two women sitting opposite each other in a Bangkok police station, waiting their turn to be witnesses of a road traffic accident, occasionally exchanging glances. At the same time, two male drivers were sitting in front of the police, explaining the circumstances of the accident. It was 2.00am and the investigation seemed to be taking an inordinately long time, what with all the form-filling and drawing of maps of the incident.

The first woman was sitting quietly. Her face was pale and she had tears in her eyes. The other woman walked over to the obviously distressed one and said “You don’t have to worry so much, if your boyfriend confesses that he was at fault, running into our car from behind, he can just pay for the damage, then we can finish the case.”

The sad woman initially sat silently , but then she suddenly cried out, saying she wasn’t the man’s girlfriend, but had been she was hijack and robbed by the man. After being comforted, she told the other woman the shocking story.

To protect her identity, let’s call her Ms.A. Apparently, she was driving from Bangkok to Nakornpatom ( 80 km from Bangkok) at around 9 at night. Suddenly, a motorbike ran into the back of her car. She then got out of the car to negotiate damages with the motorcyclist. The rider spoke very politely and agreed to go to the police station. Initially, she thought he was genuine enough, so she suggested that if he paid for the damage, they didn’t need to go to the police station. He agreed and they decided to find a nearby garage to settle the price. She was about to get into her car and follow him to the garage, when he told her he had to stop at his house to drop off his bike because it sounded as though it was developing problem. She was told to wait in her car until he returned.

The man duly came back, but with a friend, and at this point they opened her car front door , and threatened her with a knife and forced her to drive back to Bangkok. When they arrived, they made her stop at an ATM and forced her to take out as much cash as the regulations allowed. Seeing she still had some money left, they told her she’d have to withdraw more the money after midnight.

Then, the unfortunate lady was taken to a motel and summarily raped many times; after which, they ordered food and drink and then raped her again. The woman said she was begging them to stop, but they were drunk and kept threatening her. Ms. A said by the time one of the men took her from the motel to get more money, it was 1.45 am. He drove the car very dangerously and that was why they’d had an accident.

After hearing the unfortunate victim’s account, the second lady then rushed into the room where the police were questioning the rapist and her boyfriend. She quickly told the police the true circumstances and asked them to arrest the man, after which the police took the man back to his hotel and managed to catch the other rapist, too.

Answering the police questions, the two men confessed that they’d committed similar crimes several times. Most of their victims were single women drivers, and they only choose locations outside Bangkok , where the traffic was not too heavy and it was also not too far to drive back to Bangkok to find ATMs easily. Most of their victims didn’t report the incidents to the police because they were too ashamed.

Both rapists will be charged with rape.
