Shoplifting Iranians Arrested

Two Iranian men who stole clothing worth 4,000 THB from a Big C department store, north Pattaya have been arrested by police.

PATTAYA – July 3rd , 2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; Pol.Lt.Col. Kowit Sawatmongkhon (Inspector of Pattaya city police station, Chon Buri province) was notified by Mr. Thana Soithong a staff member of the Big C department store, north Pattaya branch that he had apprehended 2 foreign tourists who had stolen many items from the store. Therefore, Pol.Lt. Kowit rushed to inspect at scene together with a team of police officers.

 

At scene the police found Mr. Thana and the security guards who had detained 2 foreign tourists. They were identified as Mr. Mohamed Nejaed, aged 22, and Mr. Omid sqlmahle, aged 20 from Iran. They were caught with many items of clothing such as T-shirts, long sleeves shirts, pants, briefs, socks, etc which totalled around 4,000 THB.

Upon questioning Mr. Thana he told the police that he saw the 2 Iranian men carrying plastic bags which they used to put the stolen items in. They then removed the barcodes so the alarms wouldn’t go off and walked out the store as normal. Mr. Thana then followed them and asked to inspect the goods’ receipts but they did not have one, therefore, he asked to look in their bags where he found the stolen items so he detained them before calling the police. Initially, they confessed to the thefts so the police charged them both for theft and sent them to the inquiry official to be prosecuted further according to the Thai law.
