Mr. Prasopsuk said the government still could not solve the economic problems it faces, and it must find ways to end domestic political unrest, otherwise several other problems will follow.

He said he had officially visited several countries and was asked by their officials about Thailand?s political and economic problems, especially the closing of Bangkok’s Don Mueang domestic airport and Suvarnabhumi International Airport by People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) protesters in late November and early December last year.

Foreign officials seemed to understand the political problem, but not the shutdown of the two airports, he said.

His comments were made as the government is preparing to publish booklets explaining its accomplished during its first six months in office, after coming to power last December 22.

Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Satit Wonghnongtaey said a committee would meet again Thursday to finalise what will be published on the government?s performances in the past six months.

Three types of public relations will be prepared, said Mr. Satit, adding that they include documents tol be submitted to the prime minister, for the media or advertisements to be published in newspapers and publishing hard-copy books or VCD/DVDs to be broadcast on radio or cable TV stations.

Rejecting negative assessments of the government?s performance, Mr. Satit said the government had accomplished many projects in its first six months in office. (TNA)
