The Accommodation
The interiors of the spacious rooms, however, are replete with mod-cons, including new beds, refrigerator, and mini-bar, but no TV, so you can really get away from the trials and tribulations of the world. The room interiors are a friendly mix of bamboo walls, tiled floors and coloured-glass windows with amply comfortable mosquito-screened beds. Some of the rooms have double-beds in enclosed alcoves, making your sleep truly relaxing and dream-filled. The cottages have scorpion tailed boat-shaped balconies, where you can peacefully relax, while listening to the gentle meandering of the River Ping, adjacent to the resort. The resort does boast Wi-Fi throughout, however, so if you really need to keep in touch, you can.

The resort of 9 cottages is tranquil and picturesque, with an open-air restaurant, laundry service and on-site massage service. The resort is only 20 metres’ walk to the centre of the city, 5 minutes from the night market and 20 minutes from the airport, with the added attraction of river cruises on the scorpion tailed boats . In addition there’s is a handy airport transfer service as well as car hire.

Following are some of the authentic, unsolicited testimonials from happy and satisfied guests whose heart-felt sentiments say more than 6 pages of advertising blurb! Their authenticity can be checked out on the website.

1. Fantastic place to stay, really enjoyed the peace and tranquillity. The service was as good as a top class hotel and the location is simply blissful.

2. I found this interesting and unique place to stay in the northern city of Chiang Mai, which gives you this unique traditional, almost primitive feeling because this place is partially made out of mud: this place is called Scorpion Tailed Boat Village.

3. Obviously, the price is very affordable because you’re not staying in a posh room but a very down to earth, and traditional room. It’s great for those adventurous ones who like to enjoy nature and travel on the different mountaintops of Chiang Mai – everything is very accessible.

4. Great value for the money. The room was good for Bt1,500 per night. Service was outstanding. Our hostess was very kind and helpful with everything. She helped us with booking the daily trips to sight-seeing. It takes about 5-10 minutes with a tuk-tuk to downtown Chiang Mai. I would definitely stay there again next time I’m in Chiang Mai.

5. Very clean and roomy bungalows. They were very helpful with picking our tours and made us feel like family while at the resort!

6. We travelled around Thailand for 24 days, and spent 3 nights here this was by far the cleanest of all the bungalows with the most friendly and best service we had!

7. The family run resort, located on the river, with boat-themed huts in a garden setting. Pleasant, thoughtful staff. Northern traditions adhered to. Tuk-tuk ride from eateries, markets and shopping.

8. The people are so friendly and helpful and make you feel part of their extended family.

9. This is the most welcoming place I have ever stayed

10. This was the best personal attention we have received in our international travels over the years. The bungalows are really clean and nice and the mattresses and pillows and surprisingly comfortable.

11. I must say they are the friendliest people I have met on my travels and the place they have here is excellent. If you’re looking for a place to just relax look no further

There you have it. With such wonderful recommendations, you owe it to yourself to check out this unique resort when in Chiang Mai, or even better, make a special trip just to experience the Scorpion Tailed Boat Village Resort and all the marvels that Chiang Mai has to offer.
