Schools across Thailand, Phuket ordered shut May 23-25

All educational institutions across the kingdom are asked to close from Friday to Sunday (May 23-25), in the name of peace and order.

The nationally televised order was announced 9pm by Colonel Winthai Suvaree, the army deputy spokesman for the National Peace and Order Maintaining Council (NPOMC).
 
Col Winthai also clarified various curfew exemptions. Namely, anyone who is entering or leaving Phuket on an airplane, in addition to military or government officials, as well as aviation and logistics personell working authorized night shifts.
 
Proper identification or verification paperwork will be required to qualify.
 
Anyone who needs emergency medical treatment at a hospital will also be exempt.
 
Meanwhile, the caretaker Prime Minister Niwattumrong Boonsongpaisan, caretaker Deputy Prime Minister Phongthep Thepkanchana and 16 other cabinet members have been summonsed to report to the NPOMC tomorrow.
