Scam Tour Company Director Goes On The Run

The director of a tour company which has scammed tourists out of over 30 million THB has gone on the run. The police have filed for an arrest warrant for his arrest.

KRABI – April 3,2014 [Pattaya Daily News];For the case where a lot of tourists had notified the police that they had been tricked by a tour company to buy tour packages at a cheap price, but when they reach to the hotel there were no rooms. The total estimated tour scam has cost more than 30 million baht. On April 2 journalist went to check the hotel that the tour company was using and what they found was a hotel with a sign outside saying closed for renovations. The hotel sign its self was missing and there were only 2 staff members there.

The journalist went inside and asked a Mr Nitikorn Pissawong who had been hired by the hotel owner to work on the interior. He told the journalist that the company director a Mr Shane (alias), had been the owner for long time, but he was just a renter. The real owner had been running it for 9 years and the last 3-4 first years Mr Shane had been renting it but the rent and staffs wages hadn’t been paid. Recently there has been news about fake tour packages and the hotel has tried to contact him without success and believe he has run away or gone into hiding. he real owner was afraid that Shane would sell the hotel property to pay the debts so he encircled the hotel with cloth and put a sigh up saying under renovation, and also he did not want to answer the tourists who had been tricked because they were arriving every day.

Pol.Col.Pruttipong Nutchanart said told some victims that he would file for an arrest warrant for the company director in 7 days.
