Sattahip Naval Officer Found Dead In His Pickup Truck

A 46-year-old Navy officer was found dead in his Vigo pickup truck. Before he was found he was drinking heavily with his friends and decided to sleep in the pickup with air condition running. The police believes the man died due to alcohol intoxication in conjunction with the extremely hot weather before sleeping in the cold vehicle. His body could not adjust to the changes and he died of a sudden heart attack.

SATTAHIP – April 26, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; Pol.Capt.Ekachai Mulsee Sattahip police station, Chonburi province, was reported of a death in a pickup truck.

Pol.Col.Chanapat Nawalak- director of Sattahip police station, and Pol.Lt.Col.Prakorb Sangpring-vice crime control director with the rescue team from Sattahip Sawang Rojana Thammasatarn foundation found a black Toyota Vigo, registration number YorPor(ญพ)– 9387 Bangkok, was parked in Larn market parking lot, Kromluang Chumporn Ket Udomsak barrack, Royal Thai Marines Corps Sattahip, Chonburi.

There were many villagers around the vehicle. The doors were locked and the engine was running. The air condition was on full blast. Condensation on the windows.

In the driver’s seat was a man wearing a white T-shirt and trousers. Beside him was a half bottle of impoterd alcohol.


Before the police arrived some villagers tried to wake him up for two hours, but the man did not answer. The rescue team unlocked the doors and found the man was dead. The deceased man was Sgt. Major Pinai Somprasong, a 46 year old chief Naval petty officer first class.

The witnesses said that they saw him park his vehicle car about around 01:00 hours. In the morning he was still sleeping in the vehicle.The locals tried to wake him up – but the man did not respond.

Pol.Capt.Ekachai Mulsee said that he knew Sgt. Pinai left his house yesterday evening to attend a party with his colleges. The police believes he was too drunk to drive, so he parked his car and went to sleep.

The cause of death, the police said was alcohol intoxication, extremely hot and cold conditions that his body could not adjust to causing a heart attack.

The body will be sent for an autopsy at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, Police General Hospital to find the cause of death.
