Sattahip Cops Bust Big Gang of Roaming Thugs

A gang of 13 drug-using hoodlums was arrested by Sattahip police. The roaming thugs would follow people on motorbikes and commit violent armed robberies. Juvenile members burglarized homes and stole motorbikes for cash to buy amphetamines.

SATTAHIP-November 1, 2012,[Pattaya Daily News]; at 1 p.m., the arrest of a big gang for robbery and stealing property was announced at the meeting room of the Sattahip police station in Chonburi province.

Making the announcement were Mr. Pawat Lertmookda, Sattahip sheriff; together with Pol. Col. Chonnapat Nawalak, Superintendent, Sattahip police station; Pol. Lt. Col. Prakorb Saengpring, Deputy Superintendent; Pol. Lt. Col. Niphon Pomsanarm, Deputy Superintendent; Pol. Lt. Col. Thapanat Chayarnphat, Inspector; Pol. Lt. Col. Aphichanan Wattanawarangkul, Inspector; Pol. Lt. Col. Wicharnvit Keuykarn, Inspector; Mr. Narong Boonbanjerdsri, the Lord Mayor of Sattahip; the detective police team and officers from the operation center of subduing for crime.

Police superintendant Pol. Col. Chonnapat Nawalak said this is the biggest gang that Sattahip police ever arrested. The gang, nicknamed “Look Nu,” was led by a 19-year-old thug. The gangleader was identified as Mr. Ratijit Sausawaeng or Got, age 19, address 84/12 Moo 5 Tambon Sattahip, Amphur Sattahip.

The other 12 arrested gang member are: Mr. Suraphol Sornyu, age 45; Mr. Chanaphol Saengfha, age 41; Mr. Nathee Peuchphan, age 25; Mr. Chainan Orn-uthai, age 24; Mr. Thitiphong Charoenchai, age 23; Mr. Jaturong Nuamsri, age 22; Mr. Somkiet Parnprasert, age 19; Mr. Tossaphol Charnchai, age 19; and 4 children between the ages of 14 to17.

Evidence seized by police included a pistol and ammunition, 4 motorbikes and two fashionable handbags, along with a lot of other stolen property. A police discovered that the stolen property was being sold to many pawn shops in Sattahip.

The police commander said the gang usually committed their armed robberies by following people riding motorbikes, and forcing them to stop and park. Then Mr. Got used a sharp knife to stab the victims and rob them. The juvenile gang members would burglarize homes and also stole motorbikes.

The stolen property would be fenced at pawnshops, and the money used to buy amphetamines for gang members. Mr. Got would feed amphetamines to the younger gang members. More than10 juveniles have joined the gang.

During the announcement of the arrests, a victim identified as Mr. Prakit Katekaewvicheanchai, age 23, came to point out the suspects to arrest. The police assumed many more victims will be coming to point out the defendants. Sattahip police are investigating further to arrest the remaining gang members.
