SAKAEO – February 24, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; a report of a 7-year-old girl being raped by older teens and an adult male was received by the police of Khao Chakan police station. Making the complaint to officers was the girl’s grandmother, Mrs. Parn, age 59, living at Tambon Phraphlerng, Amphur Khao Chakan, Sakaeo province.

Mrs. Parn said her granddaughter told her that she was deceived into being raped by the teenagers in the village, and had seen an adult male sexually assaulting her granddaughter.

Later, on February 28 at 3 p.m., the investigation officer Pol. Lt. Manop Salatharn brought the girl to point out the location where the sexual assaults took place. At the scene, a lot of local residents were standing around and watching curiously.

Mrs. Parn said she saw an adult man assaulting her granddaughter, identified as Mr. Arthit Rattanaphol, age 27, living in Tambon Phraphlerng. She saw him raping her granddaughter, and was using his hand to cover her mouth. So Mrs. Parn shouted to call her granddaughter to come back. The girl then revealed that she had been raped by Mr. Arthit and his 5 friends for more than 1 year, but she didn’t dare tell anyone.

So Mrs. Parn brought her granddaughter to notify the police. The victim was sent to Khao Chakan hospital to check up her body. The doctor who examined her confirmed she had been raped. The police then requested an arrest warrant from the court to arrest Mr. Arthit. He was arrested on February 24, and sent to the prison in Sakaeo province.

Police have identified the five other suspects as teenagers under age 15, all living in the same village nearby. The prosecutor and the officers of the unit of social development and stability of humans are coordinating to request warrants from the court to arrest the teen suspects.
