Russian’s Handbag Snatched By Junior High Students

2 male junior high school students rode a motorbike and snatched a handbag from female Russian tourist. One was arrested and but the other escaped. The arrested teenager told police he had done it twice before and was doing it to pay for football training which he was in arrears on by several months.

PATTAYA – March 1, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; Pol.Capt. Vitsanu Chaisuwan (Deputy Inspector of Pattaya city police station, Chonburi province) was notified that there was a foreign tourist named Miss Kristina Mokina, aged 26, (Russian nationality) who had her handbag snatched while she was walking with her boyfriend in Soi Boonkanjanaram temple near Jomtien beach, Moo 12 Tambon Nong Prue, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province. The 2 snatchers drove a red-white Honda Wave 125 motorbike, license number Jor Wor Sor-844 Chonburi, . After snatching the handbag they then fled in the direction of Jomtien second road. Therefore, Pol.Capt. Vitsanu Chaisuwan rushed to inspect the scene.

At the incident the police found a female Russian victim, she informed the police that her handbag was snatched which contained approximately 2,900 THB and 1 mobile phone. The officers then coordinated with patrolling officers and the volunteer police team to arrest the 2 snatchers along the road that they were escaping on. The police were then informed that they were seen heading into the woods near a condominium building at Jomtien beach. The police found their motorbike on the ground near the woods so around 30 officers surrounded the area and it took almost 1 hour until they could arrested 1 snatcher but the other one could escape.

They had arrested Mr. Toey (alias), aged 15, dressed in a football kit and had a scratch wound from falling off the bike. Mr. Toey told the police that he is studying in the junior high school (Matthayomsuksa 3 of Mueang Pattaya 9 School) and he confessed that the other snatcher was his friend a Mr. K (alias) and they snatched the handbag to make money to pay for football training Mr. Toey also confessed that he had seen senior students who had snatched tourists property and they had a lot of money so he tried to imitate them by doing the same so he could pay the 500THB football training fee.

The police informed the parents of Mr. Toey and detained Mr. Toey to let the victim point him out to confirm the ID then charged him with the allegation of snatching other people’s property and will arrest the other one trouble maker named Mr. K to be prosecuted further according to the Thai law.
