Russian Woman Robbed and Assaulted, Pattaya

A Russian female tourist has been assaulted by a young Thai man and robbed of 10,000 baht in cash. The incident occurred on the North Pattaya Road in Naklua.

Pattaya, the 17th of December 2009 [Pattaya Daily News]: Police Lieutenant General Somchai Chaikhnanokoon received a report at 00:00am, that a female tourist had been assaulted and injured severely, officers hurried to the scene accompanied by the Sawang Boriboon Foundation.

Arriving at the scene on North Pattaya Road near the Je-Juk bar, police discovered Mrs Ludmila Besu Kolla [52] a Russian national, suffering from a severe cut to the head with blood gushing from the wound. She was rushed to the Pattaya Memorial Hospital by the medical team.

Officers obtained a statement from Mrs. Sudsakorn Khunthammasak [22], a Je-Juk staff member who stated that she saw the Russian woman walking towards Naklua when two young Thai men on a motorbike pulled-up, one man getting off the motorbike to strike Mrs Kolla over the head with a soda bottle before stealing her handbag. The offenders fled in the direction of the Sukhumvit Road.

Mrs. Kolla managed to tell police, in a very frightened and semi-conscious state that she was walking back to the Long Beach Resort & Hotel in Naklua when the incident occurred. She also informed police that she had approximately 10,000 baht inside the stolen handbag.

Police have taken reports of the events from various witnesses and the victim; they will now proceed with investigations in order to apprehend these violent young men.
