Russian Skimmer Gang Caught Red Handed In Pattaya

Police officers have arrested 2 Russian men who had been skimming information off peoples cards in Europe and withdrawing the money from ATM’s in Pattaya . They were arrested with 30 fake ATM cards.

PATTAYA – September 25, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 14.00 pm Pol.Maj.Gen.Thanet Pinmuangngam- deputy commander of police legion 2-, Pol.Col.Suppatee Boonkrong-acting superintendent of Pattaya police station-, Pol.Lt.Chitdecha Songhong-seputy superintendent of investigation of Pattaya police station- and police officers had together made a statement about the arrest of Mr.Sergei Popov aged 27 and Mr.Yifjeni Kubatov aged 36 from Russia with 36 fake electronic cards, 20,000 baht and ATM password data.


Pol.Maj.Gen.Thanet revealed that previously the police officers had been notified from the Kasikorn bank that foreigners had used fake ATM cards to withdraw cash around Pattaya. Therefore he had ordered the officers to investigate the matter until the officers found 2 suspects who were withdrawing cash from an ATM. The officers caught them and took them back to their accommodation to search their room.


Upon questioning they confessed that they bought about 30 fake ATM cards for 1,000 dollars from a foreigner in order to withdraw money around Pattaya. Most of the victims were from Europe. However the police officers prosecuted them for fraud by skimming.
