Russian Girl Slashed During Bag Snatch In Pattaya

A Russian girl was who was robbed by a Thai teenage male was slashed across her hand in the struggle as she fought back. The attacker was quickly apprehended by some local people.

PATTAYA – November 14, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News] at 20.00 pm Pol.Col.Suppatee Boonkrong-superintendent of Pattaya police station- was notified that a foreigner had been stabbed and robbed in Soi Pratamnak road. After notification the police officers rushed to inspect the crime scene.

 

At the scene the police found Miss.Behpa Venera Khasianova a 22 year old Russian tourist who had been slashed across her right wrist waiting with her boyfriend. Upon questioning Miss.Behpa Venera Khasianova she revealed that they were on their way back to their hotel after going to walking street when a teenage man rode alongside them and pointed a knife at them, he then tried to snatch her bag and at the same time tried to slash the handles with the knife but the victim fought back and during the struggle was slashed across her hand before the attacker fled.

Later the police officers were notified by locals that they had apprehended the attacker near the scene so the rush to the scene. The attacker was identified as a Mr.Manat Khemtong aged 23 who was caught with the knife.

 

Upon questioning Mr.Manat he confessed that previously he worked in a Karaoke shop in South Pattaya but it had closed and he had no job and no money so he decided to rob the couple. He tried to take the hand bag but she fought back and was accidentally slashed. The police then took him to the police station to be prosecuted according to Thai law.
