Runners From Around The World Join The 15th Pattaya Marathon 2008

Pattaya city gave a warm welcome with activities and banquet to runners from around the world who join the 15th Pattaya marathon 2008. The event would start at 4am on Sunday morning.

On July 19th, 2008, Pattaya newsman reported that from 10.00 – 19.00 at recreation court on Pattaya beach road, Soi 4, Banglamung, Chonburi, Sport and Tourism Ministry and Pattaya city, related sections including the main sponsors , had joined selling the tickets to runners who are joining the event of Pattaya marathon 2008. There were activities on the stage and banquet for runners from around the world who joined the race in order to give a warm welcome and to support the spirit of the runners.

The activity was a pre-racing. All runners would start running from Pattaya beach road, Soi 4, where it was a spot of application and receiving souvenir. In the evening, Pattaya city, hotel operators and restaurants would provide a banquet for runners from around the world. There were famous food of Pattaya city, entertainments, games and many prizes for all runners to participate and to provide a chance to meet each other before the racing on the next day. Besides, there were sport goods selling along the beach as well.

This year, the racing committee had divided and added age of runners group according to the request from male and female runners. Moreover, the prizes for Thai and foreign runners would be clearly separated. Therefore, Pattaya city, Chonburi province, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), and Athletics Association in the patronage of the King, had organized the 5th Pattaya marathon on Sunday, July 20th, 2008, along Pattaya beach road, Soi 4.

The age of male runner group had added with 70&Over, female runner group had added with 60&Over and Quarter marathon for male and female would be added with 50&Over, which had made Pattaya marathon had the most category in prizes in Thailand, altogether 291 prizes in total. The prizes in cash were more than 2,400,000 Baht which would be divided for International and Thai runners especially. This would give a moral support to Thai runners for a chance of prizes as well.
 

Besides, for the winner of Half marathon, both male and female would have a chance to be the representatives of Thailand to enter Blackmores Sidney Running Festival in Australia which journey expense would be provided. For those running clubs who had provided numbers of runner in the top 5 would receive an honorable plate and cash from Pattaya city, in total 15,000 Baht.

Mr. Itthipol Khun-pluem, Mayor of Pattaya city, said that Pattaya city had provided all necessities and facilities for all runners such as: Hotels in Pattaya who offered a special room rate, a place for the event including foods, water, toilet, nurse care center, car park for the runners. Besides, all Tourism

Authority of Thailand had also provided a Pattaya marathon package tour for the runners to enjoy the activities. There would be police, traffic police and highway police including volunteers who help cooperating for safety more than 1,000 people. Today is the last day to sell the ticket to all runners. There had been Thai and foreign runners from more than 30 countries, both male and female youth, local people and merchants joining the racing.

The 15th Pattaya marathon 2008 would have the starting point and finish line at Soi 4, Pattaya beach road. The runners would be released at around 4am on Sunday, July 20th,2008. The event organizer revealed that Mr. Weerasak Koa-surat, Minister of Sport and Tourism, Mr. Pracha Tae-rat, Mayor of Chonburi province and Mr. Itthipol Khun-pluem, Moyor of Pattaya city, had honored to open the event.
