Pattaya, 2nd September 2010 [Pattaya Daily News] At approximately 8.30 pm Police Captain Narongdet Tanaphoonsin (Pattaya Police Deputy Chief Inspector) received notification of an accident involving a car that had fallen from Phratamnuk Hill into the ravine, resulting in one injury. The incident occurred close to the Police box on Moo10, Nongprue, Banglamung. Subsequently the officer along with Sawang Boriboon Foundation team went to the scene to investigate.

On arrival, approximately 50 meters from the ravine, it was discovered that a silver bronze Toyota Vios car had collided with a tree. The driver, Mr. Anan Sinkta (30) was found with injuries to his back and neck and was immediately sent to Pattaya Memorial Hospital where it was found that his injuries were not critical.

Mr. Sinkta’s three friends who were travelling with him escaped injuries.

Interrogation of the driver revealed that he and friends had earlier arrived from BKK. Before the incident occurred, he had driven the car to the view point on Phratamnuk Hill in the evening. On the way back down, the engine suddenly cut out, causing the steering and brakes to fail. The vehicle picked up speed as it went downhill demolishing a road sign before falling into the ravine and finally colliding with the tree.

Mr. Sinkta believes the cause of the accident was due to a failure of the engine system and will be contacting the suppliers in order to determine the cause.
