Royal Thai Police Announce Crackdown on Illicit Fuel

The Royal Thai Police held the conference about the crackdown on illicit fuel which is entering the country illegally. The illegal fuel is costing the economy 21 million baht per day.

PATTAYA – July 29, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News];- at the Long Beach hotel Pol.Lt.Gen.Rengsak Jaritaek-assistance of the commissioner general of Royal Thai police office- chaired the opening ceremony of a seminar to improve the police officers who were in charge of inspecting illicit fuel. A lot of police officers attended the seminar.

 

Pol.Lt.Gen.Rengsak said that wrongdoings on fuel and petroleum had affected and damaged the national economic system. Traders had smuggled fuel and petroleum into Thailand without paying tax and some mixed solutions in fuel to sell. In addition some operators had sold low quality fuel but sold it for the same price as high quality fuel. As a result of this the public sector had been affected by using the low quality fuel. Recently the police officers had seized about 3 million litres of illicit fuel per day worth around 21 million baht.

As a result of the situation the Royal Thai Police Office decided to hold a seminar in order to improve and train the officers. Also the officers could exchange their opinions with each other and they will clamp down on this type of wrongdoings in the Andaman sea and the Thai gulf where many problems are occurring .
