Road-Show to Korea hopes to boost Tourism

Pattaya City had organized a Road-Show trip to Korea to introduce the new tourist attractions of Pattaya to the Korean, providing them with information around the places in Pattaya. This is in connection with the advertisement and public relations project held previously to promote more tourism.

In a meeting at Pattaya City Hall, on 28 September, Deputy Mayor Verawat Khakhay informed that he has traveled to Phusan of South Korean on a Road-Show trip with a aim to boost tourism or BITF from 13-18 September.

Together with the Tourism Authority of Thailand Region 3 and Pattaya Business & Hotel Association joined the trip and the result was more than worth what is expected.

There were booth displayed to promote Pattaya City, many travel agency of Korea were there to give the Pattaya team a very warm welcome. At the exhibition there were other countries who took part in this promotional fair to tell the Korean about their countries and providing them with more selection on the various tourist places.

The main travel agents that bring Korean tourists to Pattaya are Mode Tour & Hana Tour, these two travel agents are able to bring in tourist to Pattaya about 8,000 per month.

Pattaya is known as a Tourist City with facilities such as excellent accommodation, good restaurants with various tourist attractions giving the tourist a variety of nice place to visit and stay for vacation.

Pattaya has to make improvement on the water sports and sea activities, in which we have to quickly rectify and bring back the good image of Pattaya. It is asked that Pattaya to pay more attention to the safeties to life and assets of the visitors.

Emphasizing on the problem with the boat and jet skis operators. A meeting will be call to discuss this issue and find ways to settle the matter.

Pattaya City received praises and as well as complains from the Travel Agents about in taking some precautionary measures with regards to the safeties of those tourists who enjoy the water sport. There had been much reported accident about the death of many Korean visitors.
Pattaya City will coordinate with the related department to find a way in preventing the same things happening in the future. Deputy Mayor Verawat Khakhay said that according to statistic done by the Tourism Authority of Thailand Region 3, it was found that the Korean tourist market in 2004 there were more than 200,000 visitors, as for 2005 there were about 3.4 Korean coming to Pattaya and increase of 28%. As for the 1st six months of 2006 the Korean tourists has increased to 33% comparing to 2005.

The largest market comes in the 1st place is the Russian market, with tourist from Russia traveling into Pattaya amounting to more than 500,000 per year, which shows a positive result in the promotion of tourism.
