At 00.30 a.m. on 28th October 2008, Banglamung Police Investigator Pol. Lt. Seaksak Arthornkittiwat was notified that a serious fight had occurred between two large Pattaya teen gangs. Police rushed to the scene with a rescue team but by the time they arrived all the fighters had managed to flee the scene which was now crowded with onlookers.

Lying on the ground police found 3 victims crying for help. They were Mrs. Waraporn Ploybanpeaw (23) a 7/11 shop worker who was shot on the tip of her nose, Mr. Sayumpoo Kammah (27) who was shot in the left knee and right ankle and Mr. Yuttakorn On-dee (16) who had one shot to his upper left leg and 2 shots to his left ankle. They were all seriously injured and were immediately sent to Banglamung hospital.

A witness, Mrs. Tippawan Sukanthaman (28), explained that she and her friend Mrs. Waraporn, one of the injured, were riding a motorbike to the local market. While riding back to the 7/11 shop they saw 2 large gangs of about 20 people who had just started to fight. Suddenly, they saw a man in the crowd pull out a gun and shoot at the opposing gang. The fighters were running everywhere and one bullet accidentally scratched the tip of Miss Waraporn’s nose.

Mr. Yuttakorn, one of the gang members said that before the incident he was called by a Mr. Kwang and Mr. Drin asking him to get together with other friends as a team to fight with a rival gang.

When he arrived at the designated meeting place he found that some of the gang members were not familiar faces but still believed they would be good team. He was surprised when he arrived at the scene of the fight to find there were 10 rival gang members already there waiting with their weapons. They started to fight without thinking about the innocent people who were shopping or standing around.

Police will try to find the rest of the gang and bring them to justice soon.
