Restaurant Owner Arrested For Selling Alcohol On Buddhism Day

A restaurant owner was arrested after she was caught selling alcohol on a religious Buddhism day.

PATTAYA – March 4,2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; At21.00 pm Pol.Maj.Col.Saranyapong Maithongkul-inspector of Pattaya police station- received complaints from the villagers that the Everybody restaurant located in Soi Welcome Jomtien Beach road had illegally sold liquor on Buddhism day. After notification the police officers rushed to inspect the scene.

 

At the scene the officers found that the operator had sold liquor to foreigners; therefore, the officers immediately arrested them. Mrs.Papitchaya Khanyod aged 49 who was the owner was sitting at her desk and she acted as if nothing had happened and she didn’t care about the police.

 

After trying to arrest her she scolded the police and she didn’t allow the officers to arrest her. The police officers talked with her for 2 hours but she still wouldn’t allow them to arrest her; therefore, the police called the soldiers from the Military Circle 14th to arrest her under martial law. Surprisingly, she agreed to the soldiers to arrest her and she explained that she didn’t like the police because the police were very corrupt and always extorted money from people.

 

Pol.Maj.Col.Saranpong said that the police prosecuted her and charged her for selling alcohol on a Buddhist day.
