UDD leader Natthawut Saikuea said the United Front will now focus on leafleting business areas in the capital and its outlying suburbs, urging the public to join the massive rally next week.

“Red Shirt” UDD supporters upcountry have begun to travel to Bangkok to join their compalleagues who have been demonstrating at Government House since March 26, he said.

Stressing that UDD protesters are fighting for democracy in the country, Mr. Natthawut challenged Interior Minister Chavarat Charnvirakul, Transport Minister Sopon Zarum and security officials to set up barricades and checkpoints to prevent protesters from holding the planned rally.

Asked whether the United Front protesters will continue their vigil if they fail in their mission to oust the government on Wednesday, Mr. Natthawut asserted that his Red Shirts won’t give up their struggle.

Responding to reports that members of the opposition Puea Thai Party will recruit demonstrators upcountry to join the rally in Bangkok, he said it is the right of members of the House of Representatives to do so. (TNA)
