RED SHIRTS RALLY TO OUST ABHISIT GOVERNMENT NOV 28

BANGKOK, Nov 19 (TNA) -Thailand‘s anti-government ‘Red Shirt‘ United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) on Thursday announced that the movement will rally to oust the Abhisit Vejjajiva government beginning Saturday November 28 and will prolong its protest for another five days, expecting that over million Red Shirt supporters to turn up at the rally site.

UDD key leader Nattawut Saikua said after the group’s meeting that the rally will begin at the Democracy Monument on Bangkok’s Ratchadamnoen Road at noon before marching to Suan Misakawan intersection.

He said the protest at the Suan Misakawan intersection will continue through December 2, with more than one million Red Shirt activists expected to call for the end of the Democrat-led coalition government.

“On November 30, we will march to several roads and then will return to Suan Misakawan intersection in the evening,” said Mr Nattawut. “This will be the biggest ever rally in Thai history and will lead to the dissolution of the House of Representatives.”

The UDD leader said that details of the marching routes will be announced later.

Mr Nattawut added that the UDD demonstrators will disperse peacefully on December 2, to open the way for the “Trooping the Colours”, the annual military parade of the Royal Guard which will be held the following day to mark the birthday of His Majesty the King.

After the king’s birthday on December 5, Mr Nattawut said, the UDD expects an answer from the Abhisit government and if the demand is not responded, they will restage a prolonged rally against the government.

The UDD leader said that from Monday through Thursday next week (November 23-26) the movement will hold “Red in the Land on Tour” in upcountry, beginning with the north, and continuing to the northeast, eastern and central regions respectively, to drum up for the event, before moving to join with the main stage in the capital on November 28.
