Red Shirt Protesters Sentenced By Pattaya Court

Pattaya court has sentenced 15 Red Shirt protesters to 4 years in jail each after they assembled to protest outside the Royal Cliff Beach Resort in Pattaya.

PATTAYA-Recently [Pattaya Daily News]; according to the case that some Red Shirt protesters had assembled to protest outside the Royal Cliff Beach Resort in Pattaya where an ASEAN Summit meeting was taking place. Mr.Arissaman Pongruengrong was the leader of the protesters.

 

On March 5th, Mr.Arissaman and his 15 men from 18 suspects went to Pattaya court to be sentenced. The court sentenced them all to jail for 4 years each. They were charged for gathering in a group of 10 persons or more. The offenders consisted of 1. Mr.Arissaman Pongruengrong 2.Mr.Nisit Sinthupai 3. Mr.Payap Punkate 4.Mr.Worrachai Hema 5.Mr.Wanchana Kerddee 6.Mr.Pichet Sukjindathong 7.Mr.Sakda Noppasit 8. Pol.Lt.Col.Waipod Aparat 9. Mr.Nopphon nachiang 10.Mr.Samreng Prachamrua 11.Mr.Somyot Promma 12.Dr.Wallop Yangtrong and 13 Mr.Sing Thongbuachum. In addition, the court had dismissed Mr.Thongchai Sakmungkorn and Pol.Col.Sompol Ratthabarn and the court postponed the case of 3 other suspects which consisted of Pol.Lt.Col.Sangim Samranrat 2. Mr.Surachai Saedarn and Ms.Orawan.

 

Mr.Karom Ponthaklang the lawyer of Red Shirt protesters revealed that he had applied for bail for the 13 suspects today (March 5th) but the court denied bail and handed the case over to the court of appeal in Chonburi. In addition, the suspects would be detained in Nong Plalai remand prison until further notice.
