Thailand Negotiate Real Madrid Exhibition Match Proposal

Thailand’s Tourism & Sports minister recently revealed that negotiations were underway in an attempt to entice the Spanish Premier League giants Real Madrid to host a match in Bangkok as part of a Far East Asia Tour in the close season.

Bangkok, the 14th of April 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: Attachai Burakamkovit, Thailand’s permanent secretary of Tourism & Sports stated the ministry have been in positive contact with the nine-time European champions in regards to staging an exhibition/friendly match in Bangkok over the Spanish Premier League close season.

Mr. Burakamkovit said that the club, boasting international superstars; Raul, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Iker Casillas, have been asked to participate in a match at Bangkok’s Rajamangala Stadium in August. The match will be staged as part of Her Majesty the Queens birthday celebrations.

If both parties reach an agreement the Spanish champions would most likely play a full strength Thai national team, currently being coached by former England player and Captain Bryan Robson.

Mr. Burakamkovit revealed that plans were afoot to bring other big European clubs such as; Inter Milan, AC Milan or Manchester United should their bid to get Real Madrid fail. The government is reportedly prepared to invest over Bt60 million in their attempts to stage the match in Bangkok.
