Rayong Cops Grab Hand Grenade During Drug Raid

Two Rayong drug dealers were arrested by Baan Khai police after selling amphetamines to a police undercover officer in a Rayong hotel room. While seizing the evidence of illegal drugs, police also discovered a M26 hand grenade that belonged to one of the suspects.

RAYONG – February 4, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 4:30 p.m., the arrests of two Rayong drug dealers were announced by Pol. Lt. Col. Thawee Koodthalaeng, Deputy Superintendent, Baan Khai police station, Rayong province; together with Pol. Maj. Kritphong Rojroongsasithorn, Inspector; Pol. Lt. Sutthiphong Thongkham, Deputy Inspector; Pol. Sen. Sgt. Maj. Natthavuth Nanthasena; Pol. Sgt. Maj. Chetthaporn Jaengprajak; Pol. Sgt. Supot Pholek; and Pol. Sgt. Sunan Boonpream.

The first suspect was arrested after selling amphetamine pills to a police undercover agent in a 3rd floor room at the Rayong President hotel. The suspect was identified as Mr. Virat or Tee Muangkaew, age 33, from Tambon Phananikhom, Amphur Nikhomphattana, Rayong province.

Police seized the evidence of 139 amphetamine pills, a mobile phone, and a M26 hand grenade. Police charged him with possessing a Type-1 drug for illegal selling; and for possessing a deadly bomb.

After further investigation, police discovered the suspect worked for a network of drug dealers, and would drive to deliver the amphetamines to customers outside the hotel.

The undercover agent then made a phone call to buy amphetamines from another dealer in the gang. After the purchase, police then arrested the second suspect, identified as Mr. Anujit or New Srisuk, age 30, from Tambon Nernphra, Amphur Meuang, Rayong province.

Police seized the evidence of 9 amphetamine pills on the top of the bed in the room. Police also charged him with possessing a Type-1 drug to sell illegally. Both suspects were sent to the Meuang Rayong police station to prosecute further according to the law.
