Sirracha, 17th January 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]: At 23.30 , Police Major Phon Phrasertsri, Police Station Sirracha, Chonburi, was notified of a fire that had broken out at a house on 39/19 behind the shrine ‘Porkho khao Uttarpong’ Moo4 Surasak, Sirracha. Police officials, a fire fighter truck and 5 vehicles from the Municipality Council of Chaopraya Surasak, rushed to the scene along with Police General Montri Rhotbrani and his team from the Chapraya Surasak Municipality Council.

On arrival, the single story, semi-wood house was well alight and vigorously burning. The household kept stacks of old papers to be sold at a later date which made perfect combustible material. Fire fighters and officials took more than an hour to douse the fire which by then had demolished the construction. An inspection of the charred remains led to the severely burned body of Ms. Jinda Pueaksa-ard, aged 76 being found on her bed.

Questioning the grand-daughter of the deceased Ms. Jiraporn Pueaksa-ard, it was found that her grand-mother had lived in the house alone and spent every day in bed due to paralysis. The grand-daughter Ms. Jirapong lived nearby and heard the sound of an explosion. She ran out and seeing flames erupting from her grandmother’s house, tried to rescue her, but the heat from the fire was too intense. The fire is presumed to have been caused by a short circuit. Combustible material.
