Queen Mary 2 Docks in Phuket During World Tour

The Queen Mary 2, one of the biggest and most luxurious cruise liners in the world, docked in the Thai beach resort of Phuket on Wednesday.

Phuket, the 3rd of February 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: Although only visiting Phuket for one day on a worldwide tour, the passengers of the vessel are expected to input up to 10 million baht into the local economy, stated Mrs Bangon Chinaprayoon.

Further, Mrs. Chinaprayoon added that tourist numbers visiting the resort island of Phuket had increased by 10% over the last month in-part down to the recent arrival of the USS Nimitz and several other US Navy vessels for Rest and Relaxation (R&R).

The Queen Mary 2, now crossing the Indian Ocean, docked at Phuket on Wednesday and will remain in the tourist resort for today, before moving on to Penang, Malaysia. She is on the Dubai-Hong Kong leg of the journey, to be followed by Hong Kong-Sydney, Sydney-Cape Town, and Cape Town-New York.
