At 3.20 pm on the day in question, Police Lieutenant Choosak Pinrat, Inspector of Banglamung Police, was notified that a man had apparently hanged himself in house no. 26 /1 Soi Banlue Kan Kah, Nongprue, Banglamung. Consequently, Inspector Choosak, accompanied by his team and Sawang Boriboon Rescue, rushed round to the house to investigate.

At the house, they found Mr. Sompong (49), a janitor of Banglamung School, the owner of the house, had hanged himself from a crossbeam of the house. He had apparently been dead for about 5 hours.

The officers took his body down from the beam and checked it, but did not find anything suspicious. Beside his body, they found two short notes. One said “I apologize to everyone, I did this to myself” and another one written to his wife which said “Mother, please don’t go out and sell everything. Just sell the truck and pay off the loan of 20,000 Baht to the village and start all over again. Please take very good care of our children, I love you all” ( Thai, commonly called thier spouses ” Father or Mother ” )

Police questioned Mr. Prasat Boonchareon, the neighbor (56) who told them that Mr. Sompong was the janitor of Banglamung School, living in the house alone. Normally, every lunch time, Mr. Sompong had come home for his lunch, after which he popped in to pass the time of day with Mr. Prasat, and then usually went back to school. However, on the day the incident occurred, Mr. Prasat had been surprised that he had not seen Mr. Sompong, so he went round to the house to check if anything had happened. There he found Mr. Sompong’s body hanging from the crossbeam.

Police presumed that Mr. Sompong took his life because of the stress produced by his debts. The dead body was sent for autopsy and police will report further progress to his relatives.
