Pattaya, the 17th of August 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: Five Star Production Managing Director Mr. Jarern Iamphungphorn along with Director Wisit Satsanatieng and Pattaya City Mayor Itthiphol Khunpluem announced the grand opening of much anticipated release of “Insee Daeng” from the Central Festival on Tuesday.

“Insee Daeng” (Red Eagle) is a remake of the 1960’s action classic of the same name, staring popular, now deceased, Thai movie star Mit Chaibancha. The remake, sees up-and-coming star Ananda Everingham take the role of the Red Eagle, a crime-fighting hero, playing alongside the affable Yarinda Bunnak who is the heroin of the film.

Despite originally being producer some 40 years ago, “Insee Daeng” is still considered a cult classic from the Thai film industry. The popularity of its successor remains to be seen, however, given the success of the original it must go down as one of the most anticipated Thai movies in years. There were two further movies in what is often lauded at the “Insee Series” they were, “Jao Insee” (King Eagle) and “Insee Thong” (Gold Eagle) both also produced and released in the 1960’s.

The original lead role of the Red Eagle, played by famous Thai star Mit Chaibancha, proved to be the action-stars last appearances on the silver screen. Mit tragically died during the filming of the “Insee Thong” movie, coincidentally occurring along the Dong Tan Beach in Jomtien. Mit, whilst attempting to unravel a rope ladder, fell from a helicopter flying above the beach, later dieing of his injuries.

Mit Chaibancha, with over 250 movies to his credit, has since been remember at the scene of his death, with the construction of the “Mit Chaibancha Court” approximately 100 meters from the Hanuman Curve in Jomtien. Given the same stunts and death defying action scene present in the current remake of the Red Eagle, producers and the Five Star Production Company were vigilant in their adherence to safety practices during shooting, providing top of the line insurance for their new action stars.

In addition to the announcement of the movie on Tuesday, the actors also put on an outstanding display featuring actor Ananda, who unravelling and then climbing a rope ladder from a helicopter circling the Central Festival building, before performing an advantageous array of motorbike manoeuvres for the adoring crowd once the helicopter had landed.

Red Eagle will begin showing in cinema’s nationwide as of the 7th of October 2010 with initial reports expecting viewing figures unsurpassed in the Thai film industry. At present no reports of whether a remake of the other two “Insee” films are being considered.
