Polish Jazz quartet to perform in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City

To celebrate the Independence Day of Poland (November 11th), the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Hanoi organizes two consecutive Jazz concerts performed by Smietana Quartet in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City on November 9th and 11th, 2011.

The concert in Hanoi is held in the Music Hall of Vietnam National Academy of Music at 8.00 pm, Wednesday, November 9th, 2011. Meanwhile, the concert in Ho Chi Minh City takes place in Saigon Opera House (Ho Chi Minh Municipal Theater) at 8.00 pm, Friday, November 11th, 2011.

With 19 Jazz performances including both vocal and instrumental ones, audiences are promised to be lured away with soulful melodies. Besides some masterpieces by Frederic Chopin, the great Polish composer, audiences have chance to enjoy instrumental works composed by Jarek Smietana, the leader of Smietana Quartet. Especially, the concert in Ho Chi Minh City is added with three performances of Tran Manh Tuan, the top saxophonist of Vietnam.

Jarek Smietana is a renowned Polish jazz musician and one of the best guitarists in Europe. He is the leader of the legendary band Extra Ball, and some popular jazz groups in Poland such as Seb Bernatowicz Trio, Jazz Fusion Eastcom, and Jazzelectric. Throughout his musical career, Jarek has won prestigious prizes and played with many great artists such as Art Farmer, Joe Zawinul and Gary Bartz.

Hanoi audiences have known about Jarek and enjoyed his talent in Jazz concerts taking place in five-star Melia Hanoi Hotel and Hanoi Opera House in Novembe2010, on the occasion of Poland’s 92th Independence Day, and Chopin’s 200 birthdays. The up coming concert is supposed to be highly expected by Jazz lovers in Hanoi.

In Hanoi: a limited number of free tickets are available in A3 building, Vietnam National Academy of Music, 77 Hao Nam Street, Dong Da District.

In Ho Chi Minh City: three kinds of ticket VND 100,000/ 150,000/ 300,000 are sold at Ho Chi Minh Municipal Theatre, on Dong Khoi Street, District

Visa information:
Southeast Asian, Japanese and Korean are granted entry into Vietnam without a visa. Other nationalities can apply for a tourist visa with My Vietnam Visa (http://www.myvietnamvisa.com/) and Vietnam-Visa for $20.
