Police Volunteers Apprehend Thief of Canadian National

Canadian National robbed, suspect apprehended by police volunteer and found in bloody state by Police Investigator.

Pattaya 24th January2010[Pattaya Daily News] At approximately 5.50am Police Captain Satiphol Phoowadolkanog (Pattaya Police Investigator) received a report from a Police Volunteer, that a man had been apprehended in connection with the robbery of a Canadian tourist at View Talay Condominium, Pratamnuk Hill, Moo 12< Nongprue, Banglamung.

When the Officer arrived at the scene, it was discovered that a group of police volunteers were present in the apprehension of the suspect Mr. Saranya Yatjarern [27] from Na Jomtien, Sattahip. The offender was found to be in a state with swelling of the face, a bloody mouth and nose and bruises covering his body caused by the beatings from the police volunteers during arrest. The evidence found, were a fake gun and a blue-black Honda Wave 125 motorbike without a registration plate. The victim Mr. Bhatti Ammad Wazir [35], a Canadian National was pointing to the offender in conformation, whilst the other offender escaped with the stolen possessions.

Mr. Wazir stated to the investigating officer that whilst he was walking to his vehicle which was parked in front of his residence, two men stopped their motorbike nearby and got off. Approaching him with a gun, they robbed him of his property such as 20,000 baht in cash and a mobile phone from his pocket. Mr. Wazir noticed the gun was a fake and tried to fight them, leaving one of the offenders injured after hitting him with a piece of wood, before he made his escape with the stolen items. Mr. Wazir chased the robbers and luckily for him, a police volunteer had been driving along and saw the incident helping to catch one of the offenders.

Mr.Yatjarem confessed to the police that he joined Mr. Game (a friend who escaped) to offend. He went on to say that he wanted money for Yabba and to pay for his HIV treatment. After investigations were complete, the offender was remanded in custody at the station for the continuing judicial procedure whilst searching for the other offender.
