Senior police officers on Thursday held a meeting to map out measures in case the PAD members and supporters march to Parliament as the ordinary session of elected members of the House of Representatives opens.

The number of police personnel will be boosted to 750 from the 150 now assigned, police said.

The authorities are concerned that a clash could erupt if both the PAD and the pro-government activists march to Parliament.

Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej has said his government would proceed to seek a constitutional amendment when the House reconvenes. The PAD has voiced its objection to the government’s intention. (TNA)
