Pattaya, the 18th of December 2009 [Pattaya Daily News]: At approximately 00:00am, Colonel Atisawit Kamonrat (Superintendant with Pattaya Immigration police), Colonel Sarayut Sanguanphokhai (Superintendant with Pattaya police), Lieautenant Colonel Worraphon Thorngphaiboon (Superintendant with the National Operation Center for Prevention of Human Trafficking) and Lieautenant Colonel Ormsin Sukgarnkha (Deputy Superintendant with the Child and Female Protection Center), together with a combined task force of officers raided the Cats GoGo bar in Banglamung after a report had been placed stating that the establishment was soliciting underage prostitution and services.

The initial raid involved an undercover sting operation, where police requested the services of an underage girl from the GoGo bar in exchange for 2,000 baht cash. Once the offer was accepted and the girl provided, the task force raided the establishment and begun their investigations. Cats GoGo bar is a small establishment which provides a central stage for the scantily clad or naked girls to dance and entertain customers whilst they have a drink. The police investigation revealed that the bar was employing 17 dancers on the night of the raid, of which 5 had been under the age of 18.

Officers from the joint task force arrested and detained Miss Suni Viangkham [48] from Nakhon Sawan (bar manager) and Mrs Wanna Biltel [35] from Banglamung (the licensee, owner). They will both be charged for providing underage girls for prostitution and services in order to financially benefit, and for encouraging underage girls to performing immoral acts.

The 12 girls who had been working in the bar, who are over the age of 18 have been arrested and fined 200 baht for soliciting prostitution, before being released. The 5 underage girls have been remanded by the Child and Female Protection Center who will investigate the girl’s situations further, before notifying their parents or relatives of the arrests.
